Another version of Jacob Cox, 'militarised' I originally thought from 1866 ie just after he mustered out, but on paying more attention it may be a little later, they had quite a powerful light in the studios as well. I intended to post my templates for fitting a portrait for the game but hadnt allowed for them being transparent panels  They are there though. I usully resize the finished picture into the relevant box repeatedly until it looks right always starting from the full size version. I generally ha...

Brilliant! Thats filled a lot of gaps. I'm pretty sure O. Wilcox should be a Union general Orlando B. The previous file in this post for Carr was too small for the unit file, so here is one with a larger face more like the ones from the game. Thanks it was one of the first ones I did (obviously) I always meant to go back and adjust it. I'll try and update the pack with your l...

Sorry it doesnt show when its not enabled, add GenPromotable = 2 as a line after Land Leader. There are 2 Mexican generals Palacio and Zaragosa who have it enabled in their files to show you what it looks like. It doesnt look like much of the process has changed since AACW so the old wiki should be ...

If CW2 follows AACW you can either promote by jumping from one model to another eg from * to **. For this you need to have 2 distinct models for the same general linked together. There is also an entry in the database for a generic promotion which in AACW allowed you to ugrade the same model to a hi...

Ok I dont have the BRS but I remember from from some of the mod scenarios for AACW that Walker came with some troops then still from the scripted events.
It sounds similar you dont notice until they have their own face :)

Will these work for current saved games, or do you have to start over a new game? *** Also has anyone noticed that J.C. Robinson in the USA has a totally blank portrait? I can' tell if that happened after I added these models or its a glitch in the game??? Might want to check that one out... Also W...

Hi
I havent started another one, I tend to do them in bursts when I'm in the mood.
As far as I'm concerned the portraits I've posted are available for anyone to incorporate into the game as they see fit.

I've changed the model files: the generic portraits changed to the portraits above. You only have to do is copy them (and overwrite the existing ones) into your Gamedata\Models directory. One interesting thing: after that I rename my Models.cached file then run the game and it works. After I quit a...

Strangely I dont have this problem, I was able to add portraits to what I consider to be my pristine 1.04 install (until then had been using my Aitod install which might not quite be 1.04) the model file I added the portrait (David Stanley) to was in the Models folder (ie not the one with the unders...

Maybe we should have a thread for portraits so people don't overlap, there's plenty to do :) http://i801.photobucket.com/albums/yy296/cherkasov...

I think they are locked to make sure Athena keeps enough in DC, I think the event could be converted to AI only which may be better.

Would it make a difference if the event brought the units in as locked divisions? Three or so unspectacular generals like Totten, Casey, Ferry etc could be in command. They would still be locked but not so penalised if attacked but not sure about the overcrowding thing.

I've added in a dozen or so Generals portraits and deleted the models and units cache every time I've done so including after 1.04 (assuming I have 1.04 proper) without issue, I do get error messages regarding some CSA fleets as mentioned above but otherwise it works. I'll try my vanilla install to ...

My install isn't pristine either, it says 1.04 but I'm playing Tripax's Aintod mod and I had to do some double overwriting to get it to work so its entirely possible that I have a hybrid version which still allows regeneration of the cache files . Certainly appears to be an issue arising from 1.04 S!

Are you generating 'new' files using the DB xls files or making the changes to the existing model files? I've been adding portraits to the existing files and deleting the cache files which then regenerate ok on 1.04. I do get error messages regarding fleets but they don't crash the game. Could there...

Some good pictures there, especially M. Jeff Thomson, and William Martins picture always makes me smile. One point, Orlando Bolivar Willcox (2nd from left in set 3)) was a Union general, I believe the O Wilcox in the game should be him but as USA. Here's a couple of these I had coloured in. http://i...

I feel the big brigades (after the initial turns and for the 'Elite' brigades) are a bit restrictive and less responsive than smaller brigades. A lot of 2 or 3 element brigades can be combined or dispersed as you wish, a smaller number of large brigades less so.

Where possible I try and have a junior * in my corps, that was an AACW habit I suppose from when there were restrictions on the number of Divisions. Still they do come in handy.

I modded AACW to have larger infantry only brigades which I found slowed down establishing forces ie building divisions. I think the same thing happens in CW2. My thought was that smaller brigades with empty slots would make it easier to start off more divisions because you could raise more of these...
