Re: Is the game still railroaded?

It triggers a need for an essentially different what if chain for France. How stable is the Second Empire even after a win? The underlying social tensions remain and will resurface once the glow of victory goes away. It'd be an interesting mod along the lines of Kensai's reworking of the Austrian e...

Re: Is the game still railroaded?

So that's sadly a big no for me.
What's the point of winning in 1870 if you still got Germany and the republic. Or of the US civil war if the CSA still die.
Some major what if should have been in.

Well, that's how it is.

Is the game still railroaded?

Hi there,

Years after release, has the game evolved?
Upon release, it was heavily railroaded. A victorious CSA was to be annexed by USA. Or French Empire was doomed no matter what.

Is it still the case? Is there more freedom with what ifs now?

Austria-Hungary did not have a national flag per se, but it seems that the dual one was used as a civilian flag. Album of Standards, Flags and Streamers of the Russian Empire and Foreign Governments" 1890 edition with later corrections [available for download] indicates at the table VIII number 4 th...

So... a 1792 expansion?

It's all in the title.
What will be in the future DLC? (Yeah, I know developpers these days plan this on paper before even starting to script a game or finishing him).

I strongly suggest a 1792 one with the revolutionnary wars.

It should be in, as it would greatly increase replayability.

1.01 issues and bugs

Hi team, I downloaded and installed the official 1.01.. I just found out a day 1 issue is still there : the amunition factory still bears no tooltip. Not a clue on the cost or effects. I'd like to know before I build one... Another issue I have : music isn't playing. Both under the french localisati...

This is a known issue. I strongly advise you to install the current beta patch as it seems to solve the said problem.

If you already use the said patch, you've just came accross a major issue that needs to be reported asap.

- Better performances indeed, even if I tolerate the current slugginess as a price for such a complex game. - A less deterministic game. It only has the appearance of openeness. I want the possibility of a-historical 1914 where Italy stays with the Central Powers, I want the possibility to have Otto...

IMHO the lack of what-ifs, especially for France, is one of the big PoN flaws. PoN put the deterministic choice up to the point of sillyness. Allowing the Empire to survive its victory in 1870 is a basic... And it's not that hard to do some what if on who could be minister as the political elites wo...

Something should be done with the insanely low time of travel between the African boxes.

(I also wouldn't have removed the possibility of death for 3*. It's part of war and could also emulate suicide. Samsonov style. )

Nice.
But you should change C.S.A. flag to the Stars and Bars, the third national was only used for a few weeks in 1865 when most games are over.

Of course, there are other priorities. I am glad we agree on the overall philosophy. By the way, non-historical alliances aren't that nonsensical. I know that, and this is my whole point : - The game should be a little less deterministic with Italy and Turkey. I say they should stay historic for the 2/3rd of games. After all, we do have non-historical war plans. - One should have the option, as C.P, to try to get Italy to stay faithfull to the...

I know, but you still take an event that shows that Serbia decided for the historical outcome: to deny the ultimatum! I don't understand what you don't get here. Theoretically yes. The same goes for the Ottoman Empire and Italy. However the AI is quite deterministic at the moment (something I wish we could change, ie make the AI choose with some lesser probability certain events, especially when not playing the historical war plans, if that possible) and yo...
