Thanks, Anguille. I saw some screenshots of the S&H and I know the game graphics is basic. Did you find the game enjoyable? Is it challenging or tedious because the game world is too big?

Strength and Honour

Has anybody played this game yet? Is it good? How would you compare it to Rome:Totwal War or Rome:Total Realism?

The thing I don't get is: a) battle occurs between friendly corps Y and enemies at day 2 in a region A. Corps Z that marches to the sound of the guns is in region B. Let's say it reinforced corps Y and they both took part in the battle. MY question is: How come corps Z gets there in time on day 2, w...

Reading as well. I am no expert on long campaigns but if you want to defend in depth as Jabberwock suggested build militia units and use them as diggers behind your frontlines. Try to use those militia to dig OUTSIDE cities. If you get pushed you fall back on prepared entrenchements and you won't ge...

My guess is that Thomas haven't joined the battle. Grant corps fought Johnston alone. If so, he did pretty well in my opinion then.

There was one turn during which three big battles took place in Stafford,VA between McDowell and my CSA boys. Don't know what happened there but the turn took 30 MINUTES to process (normally it takes 2 to 6 minutes)! I went to another room to read some book and checked from time to time. So now imag...

I am running the demo on an IBM Thinkpad 1,2 Ghz ,256 MB RAM and 32 MB Ati Radeon 7200 video card. Scrolling and turn resolution are slow but other than that it is ok. Don't know if the winter coating for regions will make it run slower in the full game.

Strange nobody mentioned Rome:Total War mod called Rome:Total Realism. It makes the game dramatically more challenging and realistic. I have learnt lots of new things about ancient history playing this mod. Its minor flaw is that because of its great scope you have to auto-resolve many battles which...

Army Commands do not initiate combat? Didn't know that. Maybe that is the answer though I have used Johnston and Beauregard as just another corps and it worked fine until that "Kentucky event" of mine.

Yes, Zoetermeer, these settings really CHANGE a lot and have produced my most challenging campaign opening so far. Another thing that Union AI does under these settings is imoving its commanders across theaters. You have seen Fremont move to Alexandria, I have seen Banks lead the assault of Prestonb...

Coming back to the topic here is probably my biggest victory so far. Don't think McClellan was that bad; I softened him a bit in the previous turn when he was crossing the river south of Evansville though in the next turn he must have suffered from inactivity hence the result http://img133.imageshac...

Another question: forts block movements of enemy stacks. I know that cavalry, support units will sneak by forts; divisions, corps will be stopped. But what about VERY BIG stacks? If I gather a big army or corps stack, full with big (500 strentgh) divisions, so it is maxed out to, I don't know, 2000 p...

How do I post pictures in the forum?

I can't be that dumb... Every time I try to use Insert image button when writing posts there is that URL pop-up which I use to get an image from Photobucket, yet each time I end up with a link to that image in the post and not the image itself. How do I get people to see images in my post? PS. Heheh...

Well I am playing 1.05a demo on my dang old laptop. There is no "delayed order execution" option in the menu.

BTW, Johnston was active in both turns. Can't speak for McClellan though and I don't think his force wasn't small enough to just hide from my stack.

Agree. It is especially annoying in the West when thanks to cavalry those harbors change hands several times. Now you have to either read the log closely each turn or hover your tooltip to learn who owns the place.

Try moving a small unit (militia is best for it) into a big stack that sits in 8 level entrenchment. Now the unit also has 8-level entrechement. Now take your original stack and move it into another region, leaving that new unit in place and prefferably locking the new unit to avoid merging or movin...

That would fit. Say you achieve gold ribbons and still get more experience stars. I guess then it only augmets a unit'soverall efficiency in combat and maximum cohesion level. Is that right?

Assault posture not working?

Here is the situation. My stack under Johnston fights McClellan in Kentucky, who wants to take that part south of Evansville. There is a battle (rather inconclusive, because both stacks have almost identical strength) and in its aftermath both stacks sit in one region - Henderson, KY. I set Johnston...
