CTD when loading

I updated a working version to 1.10c and now I get a CTD during loading. I don't have that .ax file my video drivers are up to date etc. The only thing I can figure is that updating from whatever version I was using to the latest is somehow screwing up. I don't have a 1.0 version on my system to try...

Posture Question

I sent RE Lee with his army and another corps to a contested region, with the Union having the higher percentage, in a defensive posture. During the resolution of the turn he switched to an offensive posture and attacked, the first two battles went well but it seemed he continued the attack against ...

Where are you looking to see that they are eligible for promotion? If it is the "Is Promotable: Yes" on their unit card, that does not mean they are necessarily eligible yet. Oh, I thought if it said yes they were promotable. I wondered why I hadn't seen anything in the message box, I thought maybe...

Promoting Generals

I can't, why not? It says these leaders are available for promotion but the special order button doesn't highlight. I must be missing something stupid but I can't figure out what it is. I did separate them from their command and even put them in separate stacks, it still didn't help.

Perhaps the problem is that this computer has multiple accounts set up on it? I don't know either. and I appreciate your trying to help, but I still couldn't see the save games and acw.exe wouldn't run in the standard account I normally use. I did find out however that in the Admin account the .exe ...

If you are using Vista, disable User Account Control via Control Panel. Reboot. Your game saves will magically appear!! 22 Hours Ago 22:56 Very bad idea all kinds of problems started. Couldn't even start the game after doing that. Not to mention some of my other background programs starting to go fl...

where o' where are my saved games going?

I had a game crash and I wanted to submit my save game and log but my saves folder is empty. When I start and load the saved game however it loads so something must be somewhere! I am running Vista and am not quite used to it yet so that probably is the problem, any ideas or do I need to have you co...

What options do you use?

Im sure this has been discussed elsewhere but as Im particularly lazy I thought Id start a new thread. I've been away for a while and just started playing again with the new 1.07c patch as the CSA. I think the AI is behaving differently than it did in the games' earlier iterations and I was wonderin...

There are other locations throughout the map that have the same problems. The Pamlico sound as an example, why enter the sound to blockade North Carolina ports when blockading the Sound would be just as effective and would require far less naval assets. Which also brings up the Mississippi River,etc...

Help, I really screwed up

For want of a better place to post this and your contact@ageod.com address not working for me I'm going to risk humiliation and derision by posting here for all to see my inexcusable stupidity. I suffered a hard drive crash and lost my downloaded version of the game. Of course I also failed to back-...

CTDs with beta patch

I've been experiencing alot of crashes since downloading the beta patch. A dialog box pops up with a warning that the .exe has had numurous errors and would I like to exit the program. If I click "non" then more boxes follow with more errors until I finally click "oui." Is anyone else suffering cras...

Brown Water Blockade, How to?

There are some things about the brown water blockading of ports I just don't get. First off what is the blockade value of a naval element for? Does it matter at all? The sea zones say it requires 'x' number of units to blockade a zone, is a brig just as good as a frigate or ironclad or what? Another...

Same thing happened to me, kinda. I am playing the union and in early oct 63 all of a sudden I had garrisons outside of the three forts mentioned above. Only problem is I didn't put them there. I am playing with the new beta patch and didn't restart a new game.

HQs

I voted yes, but I think only Divisional HQs should be done this way. Maybe for Army HQs there could be put in place a selection of formation points instead of just DC. Perhaps St. Louis, Indianapolis, DC, New York, or something similar. Of course I'm no programmer and have no idea how difficult thi...

Division that won't split

I have downloaded and installed the new patch but now I have a division that will not split up all the way. The division hq unit splits out but all of the other elements stay attached to the leader. The leader unit also stays named the "7th Division." I can then use the hq unit and form another 7th ...

I don't mind the wait as long as the AI is decent. If I were to dream though I would like to step through the turn one or two days at a time just so I could watch my brilliant generalship in more detail.

Climate

This has probably already been mentioned but I'll do it anyway. Blizzards in southern Florida? The climate model needs a little tweaking I think. On the brighter side, I love this game. I haven't had this much fun with a wargame in a long time, thanks.
