Thoughts on Cavalry Charge Rule

I don't think that the Cavalry Charge rules, specifically the Musketeer's Support Fire rule, reflects 17th century warfare as well as it does later periods when bayonets have replaced pikes, and almost every infantry element had firearms. In this period the majority of the infantry units were combin...

Re: Arcane Naval Supply Rules

I tried the same test again, this time including the supply wagon with the Army of the Ohio, just in case one was needed as a conduit for the naval supply. It didn't make a difference except that the army had more initial general supply. It still declined every month, as did the GS of the supply fle...

Arcane Naval Supply Rules

9.2.1 Replenishment of Naval Units: "Naval units may replenish their inherent General Supply points while at sea if they occupy a sea zone adjacent to a land region with a supply of General Supply points available." I've tried to create this situation and I cannot get it to work at all. 9....

Re: Field of Glory:Empires

The ability to optionally use Field of Glory 2 to resolve battles in Field of Glory: Empires will be wonderful. Boy, would I love to see a Pike & Shot: Empires using the new AGE2 engine that optionally uses Pike & Shot Campaigns to resolve the battles!

Loyalty and control are the same thing AFAIK. I can sit Indians (Raiders) in a region and they will change the control (loyalty) in their side's favour.

Re: The Problem of Plaisance [King William's War]

I found the following entry in the 1.07b2 patch notes: Added *NoCapture* attribute to all $famRaiders to fix the Raiders capturing Cities bug This explains the problem that I was having. Raider type troops (Indians, Rangers, etc.) cannot capture cities. When I add one Militia unit to Church's Brigad...

Re: The Problem of Plaisance [King William's War]

That may be the problem. Perhaps you can capture settlements, stockades, and Indian villages with irregulars, but not cities. Falmouth and Plaisance are both Level 1 Cities. I found this in the rules: "Irregular units and Partisans may only take control of a structure if the Loyalty of the regi...

Re: The Problem of Plaisance [King William's War]

Thanks for the reply. I would have landed on the previous turn, as far as I remember. I did order naval bombardment support, but it was ineffective. I'll try it again with Church's brigade by landing in St. John and then marching over to assault. Here is another failure: https://drive.google.com/fil...

Re: The Problem of Plaisance [King William's War]

Third time lucky! Here is the screen shot of the English capturing Plaisance: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1J-HgUK7xk9Y99tntJs2Y72UGiG4QYlCU/view?usp=sharing This time around, the forces were different. The English have some artillery, and the French slipped past Gilbert's Squadron and reinforced...

The Problem of Plaisance [King William's War]

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tiFqp3ugXcalaUa_L2I4QTIS4l2iByk8/view?usp=sharing The link above is a screen shot of the problem. As the English, I landed Church's Brigade in the Placentia region of Terre Neuve, and assaulted Plaisance. The battle is a stalemate, but all of the French troops are k...

ECW Battles at Pike & Shot Campaigns Battles?

Pike & Shot Campaigns is a great tactical game covering Renaissance European warfare. There is a specific English Civil War game set that would be perfect to re-fight the battles generated in The English Civil War. Unfortunately there are some hurdles. There are too many to list here, but has a...

Re: Poll. New engine first game.

After buying The Thirty Years' War and The English Civil War, I would like to see a continuation of Renaissance warfare with a game covering The Italian Wars, 1494 - 1559 (AKA the Age of Machiavelli). The new game engine might cover this intriguing period very well.

[WiA] King William's War

I'm new to AGEOD (and this forum), and have played the Pequot War and King William's War solitaire a few times. I'm willing to play either side in the King William's War scenario, and I commit to playing at least one turn per day.

Re: Supply and supply levels explained

The values used in the original example are out of date. I reviewed the files in the Structures folder, version 1.10e QP 2, and found the following supply values: Harbour: 2 full SC per level Fort: 4 full SC per level Depot: 12 full SC per level City: 3 full SC per level Indian Village: 2 basic SC S...
