First Taste of Success

Just had my first real taste of success in the game I started on Friday and played nonstop all weekend. I'm at work and not in front of it so I can't give specific troop levels and stuff, but I can say this: CSA - Winter 1862 / Spring 1863 At this point I have: -Conquered Bowling Greene -Conquered S...

Clovis...not to whine, but it'd be helpful if you could update the first post in the page with what the current changes and plans are, so new users don't have to read the entire thread... edit: although maybe you've already done this? it just doesn't seem clear to me where the mod is at and what cha...

The easiest target for a Cavalry raid would be wooden bridges. Setting fire to a wooden bridge would be relatively easy (compared with twisting rail ties) through weakening and/or burning the rail bridge (which effectively cuts the line). Seeing that in most provinces there will at least be a small...

I don't think it will be necessary to change the destruction of railroads. Try the mod. The ability won't turn cavalry into supermen. Also destroying railroads is very historically accurate. They can be destroyed very quickly. Although they can be repaired very quickly as well unless the rails are ...

maybe one of the solutions is to eliminate the ability of cavalry to destroy railroads, or at least make it take 2-3 turns so you have a chance to drive them off... not sure how historically accurate this is / how many cavalry regiments actually had the tools and the time during the war to destroy R...

We seem to have the same ideas on how the CSA should proceed. I started an 1861 campaign, it's now Summer 1863, and the only thing on yr list that I haven't done exactly the same is send my Indian war parties to CA (most of 'em are in Nebraska / Great Plains / Missouri). PS: Watch out for van Dorn ...

I certainly can pocus. I will send it right now. just want to make sure the cause of it isn't that the division HQ and the general are both brand new and thus not totally "activated" yet.

I'm in Late-Oct. 1862 with my CSA game. In general I have followed the following strategy. 1) Build up in the East and focus on consolidating positions in Winchester, Fredricksburg, and Manassas with strong (800-900+) Corps. Avoid major engagements, let the Federal troops break themselves upon my en...

awesome stonewall. Thanks. I too had been feeling like 4 arty and 2 supply was quite stiff. Especially considering I then have to arm the forts. That a lot of manpower in the arty brigades that just...dissapears.

the issue I have is that i'm not a fan of having to camp all my forces in the deep south in cities due to frozen lands. I knew my forces in some areas would be, but I was planning on using the time to shuffle things around as best I could and what-not.

maybe I just need to read the weather sections of the manuel again. Just freaked me out when I saw frozen+harsh weather in southern AL in December 1861. Started worrying about my troops down there.

So do I need to sit on this until weather gets fixed for maximum historical accuracy? I'm having a fairly strong (by my standards) campaign game going and just getting to winter 1861 and I don't want all of my progess undone by weather craziness.

As the South in the opening year of the war I've been pursuing a mixed strategy. While attempting to secure Norfolk and brush back the small-scale raids along the East Coast by small-size Union detatchments I have been pouring money and war supplies into raising volunteers in the West to seriously c...
