Re: Civil War III - To be or not to be?

The costs are mostly coming from development salaries, even if art and graphics might need a decent budget, that's not the main cost. So just figure out the price of 1 to 3 developers for 12 to 24 months (sometime 36) in your country, depending of the scope of the game. Now CW3 would be able to ben...

Out of interest, does anyone know the kind of budget games like these are afforded for creation, marketing, etc?

Civil War III - To be or not to be?

Given the recent comments by the esteemed Pocus about AGEOD wanting to make a Civil War 3, and his advice that we players need to voice our support of such a thing in the Slitherine forums, I think it prudent to post a new thread with the intention of collecting as much support as possible from fell...

Re: Civil War III

That's a period AGEOD would like to revisit, but you players need to voice your opinion in the Slitherine forum(s) about what you want to see. :pouet: I was expecting the reaction to this to be a lot more enthusiastic to be honest. Perhaps we, the players, could organise a petition of sorts and for...

Re: Civil War III

In other ways, I just want to add my voice to others asking the Philippes to put a new version of this game on their to-do list. It's a terrific simulation. Yes it has its bugs and quirks, but it is also immersive and challenging. I'm beginning to fear that we may be all zimmer framed before this h...

Re: Helping the AI by hiding its hand

This isn't related to your idea grimjaw, but I think it'd be a nice feature if the player had to by and large rely upon reports from cavalry screens, scouts & reconnaissance, spies, local knowledge, etc, when trying to determine enemy numbers, movements and who might be or is leading them. I lik...

Re: Chain of Command Question

I've always used the likes of Theophilus Holmes & John Forney in the ADC role, but wasn't entirely sure whether it was really achieving anything or not until recently when I saw Holmes receive seniority points, etc, despite not having any troops under his direct command. It's all something that ...

Chain of Command Question

I'm sure I've seen the answer to this question on this forum before but I'm too lazy to go searching for it ;) Anyhow, if I have a three or four division army under the direct and overall command of a 3 star general with each division commanded by a one star general, if I slot a two star general in ...

Re: Virginia Peninsula Map/Map in general

I have always felt VA seemed a bit cramped. If you compare the CW1 and CW2 maps, CW 2 is bigger because they expanded the edges. There are times i wish they had kept the same scope, but zoomed in. Without a doubt. The Shenandoah region really suffers from this too. In an ideal world many of those s...

Virginia Peninsula Map/Map in general

Am I the only one who'd like to see a more detailed map, with the smaller towns and various geographical features playing their part in battles? In particular the Virginia Peninsula, which could and should be one of the most vital and intriguing collection of regions within the game, seems undercook...

Re: Commanding generals and supporting units

I think the answer is yes, absolutely. The purpose of an army is to support corps; however, if you just wish the army to coordinate corps and not add the army and leader values, you can, but then you sacrifice the leader ratings of the army commander. This is even true of McClean's excellent defens...

Re: Commanding generals and supporting units

My apologies, I should have clearer. I meant in terms of those units 'travelling' in the same stack as the commanding general. Does he (and headquarters staff, medics, engineers) require infantry/cavalry/artillery as protection against enemy attack? And if devoid of those units, will he still exerci...

Commanding generals and supporting units

Just a quick question: Does the commanding general of an army actually need infantry and/or cavalry units (not including corps associated with said army) under their direct command, or is a headquarters staff, engineers, medics, etc, sufficient? Or would leaving the commanding general alone with jus...

Re: Civil War 3 suggestion that I like so much I'm posting it again ;)

Most players want a historical feel to the game, and politics played an enormous role during the war. There were just too many incompetent generals active in leadership to simply avoid that fact by appointing those we know are going to perform better. Without consequences to those choices I wouldn'...

Re: Civil War 3 suggestion that I like so much I'm posting it again ;)

While I still believe that leapfrogging a far more junior general over the heads of those more senior commanders should have repercussions (I'm not currently sure what those repercussions should be), I don't believe that it should be any great obstacle either. Just think of Lincoln choosing Meade ;...

Re: Civil War 3 suggestion that I like so much I'm posting it again ;)

I would like to be able to have lesser generals be appointed to Army Commander. While I was somewhat initially opposed to this idea, the more I think about it now the more I like it. I'd like to be able to handpick/designate the army or corps commander that I want from any one of the generals avail...

CW2 is truly superb, but then I think of a Civil War 3 and the vast potential it has and I can't help but become pretty excited. There's an opportunity to create something groundbreaking there.
