Re: Naturamix(CSA) vs Murtagks(USA) Freedom!* (exclusions may apply)

Another amazing game! It was, indeed, a very close run thing - could've gone either way. When it went bad for the Federals it REALLY went bad all over! Great job to both gallant warriors and thank you for posting this AAR!

Anything on New Orleans and the Eastern Theater? I was sorry to see the game ended so suddenly. Hope all is well with you two warriors, and thanks for posting!

Re: Naturamix(CSA) vs Murtagks(USA) Freedom!* (exclusions may apply)

Excellent! More dispatches from the front. A brutal set of turns with the outcome still in doubt. I worry about your casualties - 1 for 1 is not a game-winning rate of exchange with the Federals (but of course you know that). And New Orleans is still very much on a knife's edge. Very exciting! This ...

Re: Naturamix(CSA) vs Murtagks(USA) Freedom!* (exclusions may apply)

Thanks, as always, for sharing your war with us! Riveting theater, and different every time you two go at it. The New Orleans front is starting to remind me of Gallipoli, but it is still not clear who will be on the losing end of what could be the deciding battles of the war. Can't wait for the next...

Exciting stuff! Your opponent is following your aggressive lead from the last game. The situation at New Orleans hangs by a thread. Can't wait to see what happens next. Thanks for taking the time to post all this!

Good to see you lads back at it! Exciting stuff already. I will be very interested in how you fare as the Confederates, since you dominated last game as the Union. Let fly the Bonnie Blue Flag, boys!

Another amazing match from two great CW2 players! Thank you so much for posting your campaign. It seems like you took the initiative from the very start and never let him catch his breath. He was always reacting to your moves. Well done!

Re: A Fatal Conflagration

Howdy, Field Marshal Hotzendorf! Thanks for reading my AAR. I am glad you enjoyed it. I do have another AGEOD AAR in the Revolution Under Siege category called 'Not god, nor tsar nor hero...' that you may be interested in. And I really should do another AAR...maybe with the new Field of Glory - Empi...

Both games were amazing! Thanks for sharing. Reading your AAR has me playing CW2 again. If you write another AAR, perhaps you will consider sharing your build/development strategy and decisions. I was very impressed with the amount of combat power you both created and with the ferocity with which yo...

Re: A Fatal Conflagration

You are very welcome and thank you for the kind comments. I enjoyed writing the AAR quite a bit, especially once I got better at doing the screen shots. Every once in awhile I read through it again myself, just to see how it's holding up. So far, so good!

Re: What is the secret to buying reinforcements?

Thanks for your kind comments and glad you enjoyed the AAR's. I certainly enjoyed writing them. The TYW AI did run out of steam once I defeated the first large Protestant army, c. 1627? To keep the AAR going I started playing both sides and it turned out to be a pretty good game overall. The Swedes ...

Re: What is the secret to buying reinforcements?

Hmm. I looked at the RUS AAR and all the pics seem to be there, too. But in any case the leader activation change is made from the initial game screen once it has finished loading. Select 'OPTIONS' and then 'GAME' and you should see a selection titled 'LEADER ACTIVATION'. I believe you move the slid...

Re: 1. Red shading of regions, 2. pics here?

I believe the red shading indicates that for the Protestant force you have selected the red region is under the military control of the Catholics and you will not be able to retreat into it if you are defeated in combat. I have also seen times when I couldn't even move an army into a red-shaded regi...

Re: What is the secret to buying reinforcements?

Sorry about the AAR pictures. When AGEOD switched to a new forum format many of the pictures were lost. I thought I reloaded all of them so I will recheck it. Seems to be working for me. In any case, depots. Depots are vital to move your armies forward into enemy territory and they are constructed b...

Re: what to do with supply wagons

My understanding is that when you hit the 'next turn' button part of the turn resolution is the supply production and allocation phase. Cities and depots produce supplies and it is given to units and supply wagons that are in the same province or an adjacent one automatically. Supplies are allocated...

Re: What is the secret to buying reinforcements?

Supply is automatically produced by cities and depots. The larger the city/depot the more supply is generated. Supply is automatically allocated to units located in the same province are adjacent provinces only - there is no supply chain as in other AGEOD games. Supply can be moved by units (who car...

Re: what to do with supply wagons

Supply Wagons are critical for conducting offensive operations in enemy territory. When besieging an enemy city you will indeed shuttle them back and forth from your army to the nearest friendly supply point, normally a large city with a large depot. Additionally, supply wagons are used to build new...

Re: Unable to Build New Units or Use RGD's

Nikel - greetings! It's been too long since last we chatted. In any case the Steam version on the game loading screen says 1.02a. And Colonel Marbot, I am afraid that is what I am going to have to end up doing. It seems there would be an easy fix for the problem, but I haven't found it yet. Thank yo...

Unable to Build New Units or Use RGD's

Just bought and installed WON from Steam. Everything was going well playing the GC as the French until I saved my game and then loaded and played the Waterloo scenario. When I went back to my saved GC the Recruit New Units and RGD buttons in the upper left hand corner of the display were locked, una...

Re: Confused about army groups

I think I am more confused by your question than by the game situation you are trying to solve, but I will attempt to shed some light on the issue. Military forces in TYW are (from smallest to largest) 'units' (individual regiments and squadrons), 'groups ' (several regiments/squadrons under a singl...

Re: Diplomacy questions

Greetings! Here has been my experience with the diplomacy questions you raise: 1. In my last game the French entered the war in the spring of 1635, the Swedes in the spring of 1636. Not sure if this is fixed or dependant on game conditions. I would guess it is fixed, though. 2. I never was able to g...

Re: How to go on the strategic offensive; the game as history

The White AI will defend Samara vigorously and is quite good at massing forces in this area. I have had some success as the Reds using three 1000 point corps working together to isolate the city from supply and then lay siege to it for a few turns to weaken the garrison. You may also need to employ ...

Thank you, M. andatiep! I am honored by your gracious declaration of at least a tentative victory for the kinder, gentler red movment.
