Didn't know there was an Assault Troop RGD.

Assault troops are meant for doing a lot of damage at close range. So kind of like cavalry they help you do a lot more damage when you win a battle, but they are a lot tougher than cavalry.

I think it is good to use in key battles where every little helps. Especially if you get the first-use bonuses.

Yeah, they're pretty pointless. About the only thing I can think they might be useful for is to intercept Serbian riverboats... But I'm doubtful Serbia can even build those.

Based on the similar issue I had, I would suggest investigating the Western Entente's order file. Ours got corrupted somehow, which became obvious as the WE player found when he tried to reload that order file and it crashed straight away. So as a first resort, ask your WE player to redo their orders.

Yes, forts do surrender. It's quite nice when they do because the attacker gets 1 NM and the defender loses 1 NM, which you won't usually get from storming the place. I don't think prisoners do anything in this game except perhaps an opportunity for bragging rights. I do wonder if, e.g., knocking Russia out of the war lets the CP get some prisoner manpower back, but I haven't checked.

I think it's a feature left in from other Ageod games which use the same engine.

Issue resolved by redoing the Western Entente orders. It seems the order file got corrupted somehow, as they also crashed the game when the player tried to load them.
