Is there any update on the ETA for the Gold edition of WW1?

Also, will there be a new manual, or will the existing one suffice? (by the way, are the errata mentioned by calvinus included in the current manual or not?)

Thank you in advance for your time.

This new (first?) manual, will it be available with the boxed version of the game, or only as downloadable content?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Pocus patches so fast, I never even had the chance to see 1.02b. :niark: Me neither. :) However, I can confirm that after re-downloading the latest patch (about 20 mins ago) and reinstalling it, the version number has been updated to 1.02c. And the Winchester militia is behaving much, much better n...

After patching AACW with the lastest patch (v.1.02c) I noticed that the version number displayed in the bottom right corner reads v.1.02b.

I never got around to patching AACW to this version (blame Pocus and his extra-fast programming powers). Anyone else noticed this?

May I suggest that Phillipe's answer is included with some variation of el Gato's question in the FAQ? It's a useful thing to know (I was about to send my transports to their doom :tournepas )

My question would be, by taking the risk (i.e. sending a couple of transports with low evasion rating), would you see them return with more money and war supplies than, say, two brigs?

A unit with 2 stars is already a veteran... There are 9 stars slots in the element detail, but this is a leftover from BOA, you will never see that. Ah, here's another thing I didn't know. So, the maximum is 2 stars? Also, are you planning on removing the redundant stars from the unit card in a fut...

Looking at this image captured from one of my test campaigns http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o314/Paper_Fish/AACW_2.jpg we see that for each of the unit types available to me, there is a number of existing replacements (already purchased in the previous turn) and one showing the total number of r...

Absolutely agree. I just mentioned the situation at Fort Sumter as of v.1.02a to show that it wasn't the infantry that prevented CSA from capturing the fort and its absence does not make it easier. Cutting off the ability to reinforce the fort will help, eventually. Actually, from the pov of the Uni...

Right, my very first observations from v.1.02a: The issue with the replacements seems to be partially resolved for the Union; a couple of infantry replacements were used in some forts (not Sumter, see below) and the US supply north of Norfolk is still using up wagon replacements to bring its supply ...

Just letting you know that the same "problem" (the leading general's face not displaying on top of the army) occurs for the CSA. As far as I recall, the initial army in Richmond does not have divisions (could be wrong here though) and so the lower-ranking generals are on top of their commands. I thi...

The bottom number shows the strength of your fielded units of the particular type.

In the picture you posted you have well over 10% of your total strength in replacements, so I'd say you're covered (based on some posts by Pocus and the beta testers)

Money incentive? Didn't see any such thing. Back to the manual for me. Yup, there are four levels, 0 to 3 thousand dollars per company. By left clicking you increase the incentive, right clicking to decrease it. 0 and 1 carry no penalty (other than the money spent, that is) while 2 and 3 incur a de...

Right. Still, it sounds like a waste of resources, especially early on, but well done for dealing with it. Did you offer a money incentive when you signed the call for volunteers?

Also, perhaps one of the history buffs here could tell us whether the troops surge in the forts was historical or not?

By using "Call for Volunteers", "Paper Money Printing" and "Exeptional Taxes" one time each I was able to have my armies filled up and in order by august(turn 9 or 10). Be careful about judging needs you'll face in 1863 with a million and a half men under arms fighting pitched battles every other turn compared to what you need in late 1861 with small armies not fighting much. I had to abort my last April 1861 CSA game in mid 1863 because I ran out of supplies and ...

Ideally, I'd love to be able to direct the flow of reinforcements. Early on, both the CSA and the USA need to get those field armies up and running, but it is also possible that following an invasion that some forts would require replacements, to stem the invading army until a field army is ready to...

Well, I'm afraid I have more bad news for you...and me (playing as the Union): my suspicions were right, the system gives priority to replacing missing elements. This is particularly bad for the CSA, in the sense that there are lots and lots of forts in the south. I have spent 26 line infantry repla...

The only logical explanation I can think of is that the replacements you have bought have already been used up (to bring CSA forts to full strength, for example). Of the envelopes you bought, how many were for line infantry, cavalry and artillery? If you get messages along the line "Fort X has recei...

Where are your men stationed? You need a level 2 town to receive reinforcements (it's not made quite clear in the replacements modifiers found on page 48 of the manual) and then the presence of a depot adds a bonus, on top of the base land unit recovery rate.

For the South, taking into consideration the average potential (at best) of the states they control, I'd say it's a risky proposition. I haven't played a full campaign yet (just a few test runs) so I can't comment on the long-term usefullness of such an investment. The north is a somewhat different ...

Actually, i've had a couple of instances where full-strentch inf replacements go into Sumter on the 1st turn, leading to a repulse of the Reb assault. This might well deserve consideration. IIRC, Pocus has said that the Union infantry will be removed from Sumter in the coming update, so as to ensur...

Hi Pocus, The situation as of 1.02 is as follows (from the USA side): if you buy line and wagon replacements before the Northeastern army is mobilized through an event, these will be used up to reinforce union forts. If Sumter is not captured by the CSA in turn one, it will absorbe 1 line infantry r...
