Re: Forcepool mod, WIP screenshots

No matter how long this mod takes to complete it will be amazing. Excellent job so far. Just started playing again. I thought it’s a shame the brigades are automatically mixed with artillery and cavalry. Lo and behold, I discovered your posts. Most excellent.

Re: Civil War III

Gray Fox, this works great to replicate 61-63, but by the time the Overland Campaign starts the Army of the Potomac is cramming more regiments into brigades and more brigades into divisions (and more divisions into corps). With the element cap (both the house rule and/or the vanilla game) this isn’t...

Re: Civil War III

Captain_Orso, yeah, you’re probably right about those Northern regiments. I guess I was just assuming “citizen-soldiers” would rather be part of a new unit with their friends then to sign up and be shipped to a unit with a bunch of strangers.

Re: Civil War III

Yes, but doesn’t the CSA player receive replacements quicker than the USA player based on the historical fact that the Confederacy placed more importance on filling up existing regiments compared to the Union’s reliance on new regiments in order to take advantage of the higher rate of recruitment th...

Re: Random generals

“but simply the way random leaders are generated--the characteristics of generated leaders--I can only describe as schizophrenic, and certainly not a step forward.” I noticed this. Some odd-ass combinations that the game comes up with, but the seniority was the same regardless if I’m not mistaken. W...

Re: Random generals

My god, after re-reading that, I realize I come off as a complete knob. Definitely not my intention.

Re: Random generals

I see your point about playing the hand you’re dealt. And I understand the uniqueness of having to adapt to playing each game. This is true of any historical re-creation game (especially, when playing against another human). And I appreciate you’re response, but surely there would be a way to “scrip...

Re: Random generals

To add: I guess it comes down to one’s definition of historicity. When I play the game do I want to reenact the war as it was or feel what it was like to be either government during the war.

Re: Civil War III

Sorry to dig up dead posts. Maybe do something about the set amount of elements in a division. Base it more on manpower. As it is now, a general can command an infantry division of anywhere from a few thousand to a ginormous amount just as long as one stays within the elemental constraints. I think ...

Random generals

For starters, this post isn’t for everyone as it doesn’t deal with strategy. And I’m definitely not denigrating the work that the team put into this game as it is THE best Civil War strategy game out there. But here goes. I’ve been reading a variety of posts on here that stretch back quite a few yea...

Re: Army Stacks: do they act as a corps?

Aaah, thank you. That is exactly what I was looking for. Especially about instigating combat and such. I appreciate your response to something I’m sure you’ve hashed out many times before.

Army Stacks: do they act as a corps?

I’m guessing yes from what I’ve read on here; but do most players keep 2-3 infantry divisions in the stack and some artillery in the stack?

Re: Support Units

Ok. So now I’m confused. This is why I asked. There’s some they say “Headquarters AND Signal Company” and those that say “ Headquarters MEANS NO Signal Company.”

Support Units

Hi all, I’ve been a lurker for about 2-3 years now and find the insights of many of you very instructive, but I have a question I can’t get answered by perusing the forum. Support units. Right to the chase: if I have a corps and in that corps I have a headquarters unit, do I need a signal or medical...
