Re: Points to Know

Just dragging the conversational "Points" out of the dust bin.

Any new ideas that you believe should be posted to the fixed "Points?"

Re: Rail lines

I did some tests. My starting WS was 291 in early July 1861. I ran a turn and got +39 WS for late July (total 330). I then went back to early July and destroyed one rail line. Now when I ran the turn, I indeed got 39+1 WS (total 331). However, I went back and ran the turn again, this time with 5 ra...

Re: National moral loss when conquering structures

There's actually a very elegant solution to this already in the game. When your units are besieged, you can issue a special order to them to surrender. If you do this, the NM and VP point loss is far less. I recall that for militia, it works out to 1VP lost and 0NM. Neat trick that; I had no idea t...

Re: Military Control

Did he use a Cavalry Screen card? When I was desperate enough to insanely attack across a river in the face of the foe, I've pulled the same trick off twice. I thought the success was due to dumb luck and the card masking my forces, but I really don't understand the game mechanics enough to know how...

Re: Admiral Franklin Buchanan

Using a naval commander was an old trick that went away in one of the more recent upgrades. It was part of "Points to Know" until the ability was cut. I'll add your idea about tearing up rails for WS to "Points" in a few days. I think it is both historical and brilliant. Keep thi...

Re: The Italian Shakes

Did the loyalty loss happen all at once? Might it have happened over time? Its been a while but I seem to recall that Suffete Hano II Magnus, the leader in Carthage has the 'unforgiving' trait which lowers loyalty by 5% per turn. I remember spending some time trying to devise a way to unlock Suffet...

The Italian Shakes

In my last two games as Carthage, in HAN, the long, 2nd Punic War scenario, I've notice that when Hannibal entered Italy "Carthaginian Loyalty" in the area of Carthage, drops from 100% to 50% and "Slaves Loyalty" jumps up to 50%. Has anyone else seen this sudden and drastic drop ...

Cash Flow for Carthage

Using Cardinal Ape's excellent work and a current game, I pulled together a cash flow chart for Carthage in the 2nd Punic War. Please test and offer suggestions to this work; I'll edit in the corrections. Warning - stop reading at this point if you do not want knowledge of the event before the event...

The rules state "The More Money" option allows one to exchange EP, NM, and VP for $200 and 1% inflation increase.

How or where can you find your side's current rate of inflation?

Elephants and Reverse

Are elephant units "safe" to use in AJE? Or can they panic and attack their own side with devastating impact as they did in the battle of Zama? Last but not least, do they have any special effects or traits that make them worth the cost? As it stands, I only buy elephants if they're the la...

Leadership of Different Nationalities

How does leadership of mixed nationalities work? For example, Hannibal has a trait that allows leadership of Spanish, Celtic, Italian, and African units. Does this mean units in his stack will not suffer a penalty for non national leadership? What about combining a leader with a unit of a different ...

I know the Sasanians at times chained levy spearmen to keep them from running away in battle, but I keep finding my Carthaginian army locked for a turn after fighting or resting in a town. Re: Confederate Coastal Forts

If you put a stack "outside" or "inside" a structure, it will remain where you put it, until some thing forces it to move, or you put it somewhere else. I learned "until some thing forces it to move" the painful way. New unit builds will always move inside a structure ...

The 'Training Master' ability gives 2 XP to every element in the stack per turn the stack is stationary. The 'Training Officer' ability allows the Leader with the ability -- only if the leader is in command of the stack -- to upgrade up to 2 elements per turn from Militia or Conscript to Line Infan...

Re: HQ Support

The HQ acts as a Signal, Medical Service and Training Master combined. So, if the stack is going to be moving a lot, then most of the training won't get done. If the extra Command Points won't add another Division, then they go to waste. Thus, you basically end up with a Medical Service element tha...

Re: The Road Goes Ever On and On

Did your National Morale not rise to a high enough level? Humm, I think my NM was only 107 or so. I did not realize that taking and controlling all objectives was not enough to win the game. This may explain why sometimes I failed to see the victory screen in a number of other Ageod titles. ie CW 2...
