Civil War II Union Opponent Wanted

Hi everybody, I'm looking for a Union PBEM opponent for the full scenario, preferably to do a joint hosting game. All settings on standard/historical, with veteran activation rules, easy supply off, naval abstraction off, etc. If that sounds good, the best way to get in touch with me is to send me a...

Union Opponent wanted: Full scenario

Hi gents, Long time AGEOD player here (although fairly mediocre in terms of skill), and I am looking for a committed and dastardly Union opponent to go against my brave Rebel troops in the full scenario of 1861-1865. For settings, I am thinking of doing: Historical foreign entry Historical attrition...

Garrisoning Objectives

How do you determine the exact number of units necessary to garrison an objective in order for it to produce VPs for you?

German Navy

How do you use the german navy the most effectively? Do you just let it be in port all the time? Or do you try to sortie against the French and British? What about German raiders in the atlantic/the East Asia squadron?

Allied Opponent Wanted, full campaign

Hello, Now that the new patch is out, I feel ready to take on a "live" opponent on PBEM. I am a fair veteran of AGEOD's designs, but this will be my first PBEM in To End All Wars. If possible, I would like to play the CP. I am sure I will make many mistakes, this being my first time and all, but I f...

General death rates too low?

Hi, It seems to me like the general mortality of generals does not accurately reflect the rate at which casualties were sustained in the general staff. Here I found a list of Union generals killed in the Civil War. There seems to have been 38, with another 29 "dying of wounds received in action." No...

I was more wondering if there was a specific foreign intervention level at which subsidies were triggered, and if these subsidies increased as the FI level got higher?

European subsidies?

It is mentioned in the manual that Europeans can give support to either side (through the form of subsidies, etc) even when Foreign Intervention levels are below 100%. Has anyone had any experience with these subsidies, what they are, how they work, at what level they trigger?

Hi, Yes, the event in 1861 fired as I was expecting it to, but I was very surprised to see the event in 1862 fire. I got the warning that Northern papers were pushing for an offensive, so I declared one - two in fact, one in Culpeper, and one in the region right next to it. Of course, they failed, b...

OK well, had I known that... the event text led me to believe that it was an event meant to fire if Northern troops did not at least make an advance towards Richmond. Gary Grigsby's game on the AACW (which I didnt like very much) had such a system to encourage the northern player to at least make so...

Northern Papers Howling

Hi, So, playing as the Union, I have gotten hit several times with the "Northern Papers Howl at lack of Offensive" event, with terrible results for morale. The weird thing is that I have actually been launching (against my better judgement) several offensives in Virginia in the hopes of avoiding thi...

PBEM protection - password?

Hi, So, having recently started PBEM, I noticed that there seemed to be nothing preventing the host from tampering with the non-host's files. In a post over at Matrix Games forum, AGEOD said that it was very difficult to come up with a new system barring an external server. My question is, what abou...

PBEM issue - creating files

I have the STEAM version of the game, 1.04 beta. IF I read the manual correctly, when I create a new game, a save folder in supposed to spawn with 2 .trn files: one for the USA and one for the CSA. However, when I start a new game, and give no orders apart from saving the game, two files spawn in th...

Reb opponent wanted - full scenario

Hi, I couldn't find an "opponents wanted" section to post this in, so here it is. If I am mistaken, thank you for pointing me to the correct place and I will post there. I have also posted the same message in the Matrix Games forum. So, I just picked up this game, and I am looking for a fun and pers...

Actually, when I captured some forts on the N. Carolina coast, I got the captured naval artillery, and a free fixed fort garrison spammed in the region. So, actually, as the Union it seems you lose no troops to keep a hold on the forts. In addition, wouldn't holding the forts at the mouth of the mis...

Thanks for the answer! I am a long time Gary Grigsby fan, but I got quickly tired of his War Between the States (too simplistic for me). The reason why I mention fort snatching is because in WBTS, it was one of the key early war actions that the union had to take, as it highly increased the blockade...

New player - Amphibious operations?

Hi, I just bought CWII a few days ago, and I am trying to find how to play reasonably competently. I think I have the basics down, but I keep getting stuck when trying to conduct amphibious operations, namely, first attacking the coastal forts on the islands along the confederate coast. Maybe some m...
