My guess is it's all mathematics of a sort not my best subject. Chess Maths is probably so much simpler than the most basic wargame. Also Chess has been around for so long that the play testing has all been done how many times in a Chess game does anyone now do something completely different. No ex...

Yeah. Chess engines are at 3000+ ELO now. Carlson is 2860 or so. You are not regularly beating Fritz 14 unless your in sparring mode and its handicapped in some way. The above poster says I seriously doubt. I'd go further and say impossible. Agreed... Been playing for over 40 years. There is no way...

I play Fritz 14, regularly, not lost yet. Going to get the 4-core version to see what it can do. Under what time conditions? Wow, you should be sending fear throughout the chess world considering even a 10 year old prototype version of Fritz drew Kasparov and even beat Kramnik. Of course if you are...

Chess Ais are not *that* strong. Play outside the book (Like the Mieses Opening.) It involves playing conservatively for a long-term advantage that the computer is unable to find in its game tree search. This will frequently involve selecting moves that are believed to be sub-optimal in order to ex...

Meh. I just want this fixed. Right now (1.05-06) it's broke.

I will have to fire up Birth of Rome to get my gaming fix until then.

Is there an issue when playing as the CSA?

Pocus wrote:There might be an issue on that, as also seen on EAW. Sadly, we did not see that until too late. We will provide a quick fix as soon as possible.

Fort Sumter

I have never been able to figure out exactly how to attack Ft. Sumter as the CSA from the start. Can someone kindly explain the correct process?

Thanks in advance!

Didn't Lee's promotion to "General in Chief" in January, 1865 give him a higher rank than that of Cooper? I have always debated that Cooper, as Inspector General of the Army (thus Davis' representative) was still of higher rank than that of Lee even after his final promotion. Just trivia but what ar...

Front Line?

The biggest gripe I have about the game so far is the difficulty I am having is finding the front line (i.e. The Western Front) (I find it difficult even with the overlays). I find myself spending most of my game turns just trying to sort out who is adjacent to who etc... It would be nice to see an ...
