Second William Barksdale. Was watching a documentary will ago about Gettysburg were he died leading his men and they described him as a ardent patriot and slaveholder of the South. Think it will make for a nice new ability in his case looking at his actions in the war. Something on the lines of stro...

Great AAR, I always like it when there s hope for the South. Just a silly qeustion you mentioned earlier that you removed Huger from divisional command and assigned him to Johnstons army for the artillery bonus? Right? Is he assigned loosely in the army stack? Or is he in control of a artillery comm...

The name of that book I'm reading about the Boer war is " The War Reporter" "The Anglo-Boer war through the eyes of the Burghers". Written by J.E.H. Grobler. Don't know if you can get it on the web. It's a borrowed book planning to get my own copy soon. I have read a lot of books about that war and ...

I'm a Southerner by heart but I do enjoy your thread. Maybe it's because the North is on the back foot? Or maybe it's because I like the newspaper clipping idea.

Good tread sofar like the idea to write the report like you found a heap of old newspaper clippings. The latest book I'm reading on the second Anglo Boer war is also using this idea. It's a book about that war and the day to day struggles about the Boers and how they exsperienced it. Written like it...

It sounds like a stretch. But one of the main reasons Germany stayed on the sideline was the navy issue. She wasn't ready and it can be argued that by the time the Great War started she still wasn't ready. It's the blockade and the desperate u boat campaign( America) that destroyed the central powers.

Germany stayed out of that war due to the fact that theire navy wasn't strong enough to confront the British. They were hoping to catch up with British with the Dreadnaught ships witch leveled the scenario a bit when they arrived. But the start of the Great War they were still not ready. Witch at th...

The Second Anglo Boer war 1899-1902 as a interesting what if scenario. What if Germany declared war against Britain during this war when almost the whole of Europe were rooting for the Boers and secretly hoping the British might lose the war.
