Promoting multiple leaders in same turn

I have two leaders available to be promoted after my last turn: Lyons and Sumner. I selected Lyons and the tooltip for "Promote Leader" confirmed he was #1 in seniority so I clicked the promotion button, causing the active border effect indicating selection. However when I select Sumner and hover ov...

"On the East Coast Gunboats and Riverine Transports can only be built in Pennsylvania, as you have noted. No the C & D Canal is not represented in the game. I actually had to read up on it, as I did not realize that it exists, so kudos to you for bringing it to my attention." OK, will start buildin...

"If you want to patrol the rivers on the East Coast build gunboats of 2 squadron fleets--4 gunboat elements--, each with 1 riverine transport squadron, and use those liberally. It's also a good idea to build a couple of Monitor/Timberclad fleets to guard them." Perhaps the answer is because it is t...

"Could you expand a little on the human/Athena travel difference, though? I'm a bit confused by your wording of that issue..." In many PBEM games, the players use a different rule (not an in-game setting, just an agreement) and say that troops moving by river have to do so in a transport. There's n...

"It takes about 2 turns per Blockade ship with the Flotilla in a large harbor in Passive Posture--left side of RoE (Rules of Engagement) green--to pickup and complete building a replacement ship. During this time the Flotilla is locked in harbor." I can't recall when these ships appeared. I know th...

"Some of those squadrons start off as incomplete, just like some of the brig squadrons the CSA gets. If you stick them in a large harbor like NY or Boston and set them to green/green status (sorry, I don't know the shorthand for that), they'll start getting their numbers back. You don't have to do ...

A couple of Union strategy questions

I recently started my first full campaign as the Union against Athena. Since it's my first playthrough, I don't have a good feel for what resources might be coming my way via events, and how best to allocate my existing resources. I've studied a number of AARs and strategy threads, which have helped...

Thanks so much for the excellent advice!

I clearly misunderstood replacement - thought it drew from the same pool I created using the gear icon. I see now that they are 2 distinct processes.

I greatly appreciate the help - this will get me started experimenting.

Western Scenario - strategy advice sought

Hello All, I'm a newbie to AACWII, though I do have some experience with AGEOD in the form of BOA-WIA2. My interest in history and gaming attracted me to AACWII, but my ACW knowledge is admittedly spotty. So while I was able to work through the tutorials fairly easily (helped by CC's nice videos) an...

WIA - BoA2 AAR: 1778 Northern Campaign - A newbie fights from the American side

Hello, and here is the first part (planning) of an AAR I am writing as I go for the 1778 Northern Campaign. In this battle I am taking the side of the Americans, while my esteemed and more experience opponent (Durk) controls the British forces. This AAR is from the perspective of a neophyte to BoA2 ...

Appreciate the sage advice. However, can anyone provide a more specific answer to this question I still have: ...determining the supply consumption of a regional force...is this the value in the tooltip shown when you mouse over the “cooking pot” icon in the unit panel e.g. “...your usage is 16/turn...

Hey Guys, Thanks for the continued advice! Feel like I've got a few handholds to work with now :-) Naturally, this has caused me to think a bit more and thus new questions have arisen! I understand your advice regarding depots, but I can't seem to find an explanation in the manual as to determining ...

I am working on trying to learn how to recognize just what missions I should be undertaking ;-) Dortmund, thanks for the exampl...

Guidance needed for newbie to BoA2

Hello All, I recently purchased BoA2 and am in need of guidance. I am new again to military strategy games, having long ago played 1776, the hex-based bookcase game from Avalon-Hill. So far I have read through dozens of informative posts, pored over the manual several times, and followed the excelle...
