There's a way. Hold down ctrl and click on the quick save button. It will bring up a box where you can enter a save name.

Add another one to the list. Twice in one night, no manipulation of the files whatsoever. I've been periodically saving after 12 turns just to have a back up point. Good thing, cause it appears there's no other way around this little gem.
