Fred's Ratings

I have to say, I think Frederick's ratings look quite right! I would possibly go higher on the offensive rating, but I think it will work at 4. What are his ability symbols? The only one I think I know for sure is the one on the far right - the one that means "Drives a Mercedes" :) Makes sense for a...

Of course, the nice alternative would be someone produces for us about 50-60 different faces to use for those unknown leaders...any volunteeer ;) Another thought might be to have a "generic" face used again and again for the leaders without a known portrait. I always laugh because that portrait of ...

 sounds fabu! Would be killer to link BoA and RoP in some fashion... what a dream! Speaking of historical events, I was reading Duffy's introduction to the reprint of Corbett and Duffy says that the threat of British "descents" on the French Atlantic coast did not trully account for redist...

Subsidies and Colonial Victories or Losses

Will there be anything to model the struggle in NA, and will this by extension limit a nation's ability to meet subsidy comittments. For example, will player commanding the Austrians/French be able to influence events in North America that would require Britain to cut back on subsidies to Prussia?

Area devistation or going after depots and supply columns

How granular will the Petite Guerre be, meaning will you have a choice in directing raids or will you simply be devistating an area?

 The old Frederic the Great game by Avalon Hill had a nice take on this. Once you made a breach, the defender had to request honors of war. The attacking player could grant or deny. If the attacker denied HoW, then the defender could surrender or fight a battle. If you are the attacker in ...

We need to judge from what they did historically... or actually, in some cases, from what they didn't. ;) I will pay for this game the minute it goes on order, regardless of how this issue is handled. So this is offered in the spirit of wanting the game to be as good as possible. :coeurs: :thumbsup...

Exactly... but if Frederick couldn't survive a defensive war... why should he give a big bonus (4, 5 or even 6 are quite big bonuses) to his troops on defensive battles? If you rate him 5-5-5 (an example, of course ;) ), you are giving the change to the player to set to defensive operati...

I wouldn't want Frederick to have a low defensive rating simply to encourage the Player to play offensively. Excellent point. It's like making the French army low-level troops in the HPS France 1940 game so that it produces historical outcomes. Gimmicky. Frederick fought offensively because he was ...

Clash of Monarchs is a richly detailed board game by GMT, but it suffers from being overly complex. I think FtG will really deliver what Clash of Monarchs was meant to be.

Another Fun Block Game

I'm enjoying Prussia's Defiant Stand at the moment. As Frederick I've been able to hold on to all of Prussia and am ready, in 1760, to go on the attack again. Dresden>Prague>Vienna!!!

Hi Pocus - I took the files out of "Backup4" and placed them in the saved game directory so they could be seen by the game.
