Activation

How do I activate my pre-order game? I have version 0.99m and the "next turn" button does nothing, so I assume this has something to do with activation.

The "Update" option takes me to the PON forum.

Norton hit my pre-order setup exe with a "WS.Reputation.1" virus status. This means that Norton has not heard of the file before and for that reason very helpfully (sarcasm) stops the program for running or removes it altogether. I'm posting this because I would be interested to know if anyone else ...

So I want to download the latest patch (my version 1.01e keeps stalling) and I have to register the game. Go to the roster and open the list of generals (the [**] section of the ledger), then click on any general's Seniority rating - the list will then sort itself by seniority. You could either build a new Army for McLellan and leave McDowell in command of his or put both commanders in the same stack an...

Signals & Balloons

As neither side can create divisions before October 61 or corps before March 62 (approx) in this patch, should the signal unit and balloon reinforcements be similarly delayed? I have only played this beta patch briefly, but it looks like both sides can build every signal and balloon unit they will e...

That can have a lethal effect as an enemy force can defeat you in detail, especially if the enemy force is say a 3-division Corps and heavily outnumbers your individual stacks: each division stack in turn could then get hit very hard. The game performs combat stack by stack and a divided force will ...

Worth checking them every turn for damage from weather or enemy shipping (the ship element icon has a red edge to it) and for hunger (the supply icon is down to around 1/4 full). Brigs unless they are unlucky can stay at sea for a long time, certainly 6-8 turns or more. Every turn they are in the bl...

Do everything you can to master AACW's logistics system! A wish-list item from me would be a map overlay which showed graphically how much was being supplied and demanded at each point in the supply chain so that one could see where the weaknesses were and correct them. Surely not impossible as the...

If you are playing the CSA build some brigs (only - they are fast ships and can evade most Union shipping, they will occasionally get caught by Union frigates) and put them in the Atlantic and Gulf blockade boxes. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but does not lack of military control of a region prevent full flow of supplies to depots? You need at least 25% military control of a region to pass supply through it. There's a section on supply in the Quick Reference and a very good discussion of supply (e...

There's lots of debate about the "perfect" arrangement but for a division 4x guns 1x sharpshooter 1, 2x cavalry and the rest infantry seems to be a standard. Plus 4x guns at Corps level, the heavies if possible as they will get engaged regardless of which divisions do the fighting. Gatlings are powe...
