Start with the Spartacus scenario as the slave faction, I reckon. It's a very small theatre, you have very few battle groups, you don't have to defend anything if you don't want to, and you get events that let you choose your goal. When playing AGEOD games, I always start with the small scenarios. I...

Yep, it's a PBEM, there are two other human players. They're not really participating in the thread, if only because they think it would give them an unfair advantage. I don't mind if they peek, though, because Otho is so powerful that they need some sort of help. Seeing as they don't know about thi...

Year of 2 Emperors (AJE off-site AAR)

Hello everyone, feel free to watch everybody's favourite emperor, Otho, claim victory in the Year of 2 Emperors: http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/year-of-2-emperors-historically-accurate-aje-scenario.104363/ The site itself is good for anyone who likes PC RPGs, too, so feel free to l...

Well, you should really just take a look at the visual depiction of the unit. The numbers to the right probably mean something, but there's a lot to be said for a cool looking unit with an awesome helmet. That's how I play, anyway.

The victory point thing is broken if memory serves; you will almost always wind up with a marginal victory. I understand that simply beating the opponent is not enough, as perhaps it involved heavy casualties and many years, but right now even crushing defeats are considered marginal. James Burns, g...

An Aurelian scenario is definitely an immediate purchase for me. That said, I'm really hoping that you lot decide to make a Peloponnesian War game after you're done with Napoleon.

I hope you guys will consider making an Ancient Greece title, or at least continue to develop AJE. I've never been a big f...

It's clearly time to step away from the Romans, and start moving towards greener pastures. The Greeks and their wars are far more interesting; just follow the narrative of Herodotus, Thucydides, and Xenophon; there are a tonne of potential scenarios contained in those texts, both epic and minor, and...

No, sorry OP, they have to finish their Peloponnesian War game first, and the subsequent Persian Wars expansion pack.

I wouldn't worry about the minor/major victory distinction. The game does not properly evaluate the final score, so it's up to the player right now to determine how well he did. For example, I absolutely demolished Carthage as the mercenaries in the Mercenary War scenario, to the point where I owned...

Replay feature doesn't work

I am unable to view the replays on my current game of Birth of Rome. This is my first multiplayer experience, so I haven't encountered this problem before. Basically, my opponent emails me a replay file (we have tried compressed and uncompressed) and a .trn file. I place both files into my save fold...

Both titles feature a few large-scale scenarios that may be described as grand campaigns. The scenarios can be played a large number of times, too; I load up the smaller scenarios like the Spartacus War a lot, and the longer scenarios will take enough of your time up the first time around let alone ...

Yes, please try to give those little messages more screen-time and a more prominent position. I like to see them, but I usually miss them all because the battle goes so quickly; I think it would add a lot to the after-action report if I could read about the stages involved in the batte.

I got the scenario as part of my pre-order, but at any rate I think it's worth $4. It's an interesting scenario that you can complete within an hour. If you play as the Slaves, you can decide to conquer Sicily and try to hold out, escape south and hop on boats, or head north and try to escape across...

Constant crashes

Hello, the game constantly crashes for me. Each time it does, it either gives me a random error message, or it generates a message telling me to come here and post my log file and save game. I just experienced a crash five minutes ago that contained that message, so I have attached me log file and s...

Cannot set resolution

Hello, When I click on the AJE configuration shortcut (not launching the game), it gives me two tabs: one to enter a setup key, and one to select some graphics options. I can select to have the game in a window or full screen, and that works fine, but when I select a resolution the configuration men...
