Re: Pride of Nations 2?

An industrial era game? Sure, this is not impossible, but there is a long road to cover before that. We probably overstretched our human resources and engine with PON. Is it not true that the overstretch was overcome when PON was released? I mean: a large part of the content is already made, if you...

The best game you have ever made, with all its problems. The best game anyone has ever made.

I agree with both statements.

Re: Importance of Processor speed when playing Pride of Nations

I have run PON on a Pentium at 4.5 GHz. Turn times are not significantly faster. Yes, times are 13% shorter than with a 3.9GHz proc: If 70 seconds, it becomes 60 seconds. You are correct that turns process faster when you increase clockspeed a certain CPU. My point was that the reduced processing t...

Re: Importance of Processor speed when playing Pride of Nations

I have run PON on a Haswell G3258 Pentium at 4.5 GHz which is as fast a processor as you will find these days. Turn times are not significantly faster. By "significantly faster", I mean fast enough not to have to find something else to do while the turn is processing. Oh, and everyone gets...

In Port ensures that they are back in port and available for repairs/reinforcements for the next turn or interphase. There may be occasions where a fleet with any move order could be intercepted and so remain at sea at turn's end but the In Port mission seems to prevent this from happening. Most us...

EDIT: I checked the manual again. You do have to move fleets before giving orders. But what then is the purpose of the "in port" order?

Is there any point in using drag and drop with fleets instead of using missions?

We've only really met the Minutemen and only one of them. Hard to say for sure what Brotherhood faction we're dealing with. I like the Brotherhood generally. Some of their members are total douchenozzels, but usually, as a whole, they're decent people. But so far, I'm the most interested in the Min...

militantism 100%

I have noticed a strange distribution of militantism and contentment in my population. 1) In the poor provinces, militantism is very low (<6%), however contentment is also mediocre (~50%). 2) In the rich provinces, militantism is invariably at 95-100%, whereas contentment is at >90%. Bizarrely, ther...

I think so, the possibilities are fairly wide and defined in the game database. I recall making GB give up Scotland, Spain lost Catalonia and I took several chunks out of Austria-Hungary. Easiest way to test is to declare war on China and then offer a peace - see what the available options are. I s...

as part of a military victory you can make another power release a nation .. good fun way to wreck your rivals. You can't do so voluntarily (but remember that world conquest as in V II is just not feasible in PoN). If I recall, Australia and Canada are created by special event - certainly Australia...

Sure, but PC's and coding are always getting better and even a year or two can make a big difference in speed. Remember that for maybe 95% of players of PON 1 the turn-processing time was the big turn-off. I can't see a PON 2 or PON gold being more successful than the original unless this problem is dealt with.

Not realistic enough. Not operational level. Very false economic model of game (designed by Nanny state people who do not understand how actual economics works). These are true, but surely you must know that all of AGEOD's games are turnbased? Their current engine has taken years to get where it is...

Please rethink the problem. Have operation size, yes, but use continuous time for your turns. Do away with fixed turn time. Have daily or even hourly clock ticks. The user interface is only used when you need to make changes or respond to choices. Work it like the Hearts of Iron series. Go to a glo...
