I'm also not so sure about the merits of a grand campaign. But what I'd definitely support is to introduce a wider range of playable countries (the 2-3 parties per scenario is fine, but I'd love to be able to play more non-Roman factions). For example the Iranians (2nd Persian Empire), some Germanic...
I've recently replayed the mentioned scenario and noticed two minor issues. The first one is that the Pyrrhic player is unable to attach leaders to Syracusean phalanxes (the normal ones, not the elite phalanx from Syracusae). I guess it's probably an issue with the db, and that it also affects Syrac...
The first issue is not really a bug. It happens sometimes when you select a lot of different units in quick succession.
You can usually get rid of the overlapping graphics by reloading the scenario (save your orders and then reload from the main menu).
Thanks for the AAR and the impressions from the beta testing, haplo! I'll follow this. By the way, is the Greek theatre only represented by Roman Illyria (Dyrrhachium & Epidaurus) and some neighboring Macedonian provinces? I had hoped the 1st Macedonian War would also be included in the scenario, si...
Hi Hyroda, Thanks for prompt reply. I have played a few three player scenarios and they are very good. Let us hope we can find a third :) Sorry to hijack this thread, but I would be interested in playing you guys in one of the 3-player scenarios. I can only play on a 1 turn per day basis, though.
I knew that the marian legion had the first cohort overstrenghted but I didn't know that also the manipular legion had it too. I noticed a mistake in the legion though. Since each manipular legion had 4.500 men (including equites), in the game there should be 1.200 velites, 1.200 hastati, 1.200 pri...
The game sounds very interesting so far. I have a couple of questions, though, if you don't mind: - What about colonial warfare? I take it this aspect of the war will be abstracted (similar to how overseas warfare in Rise of Prussia appears as events with small effects in terms of national morale an...
Is there any general trigger for Linen Cloth? Also, what makes a unit qualify as Stealthy? I know one thing the Samnites did in the Wars was ambushes, yet I've never figured out how to lay one with my troops. I cannot help but think this could make a big difference against the Legions. I think it's...
You can actually still reinforce them to some degree. There is a special rule regarding supply and reinforcement which can help you to reinforce troops for which you cannot purchase ordinary replacements. It's most likely a legacy rule of older editions of the AGE engine. Basically, you need a provi...
Adopting a strategy of elastic defense is the key for survival as the Samnites. It is extremely difficult to win offensive battles against the Romans with your starting troops (especially when all the Roman legions are united into a single stack). But you can win defensive battles in rough terrain (...
The whole Migration period offers a lot of interesting material for a series of scenarios (or possible 1-2 super scenarios with 3-4 factions and around 150 turns or something). Maybe one "Crisis of the 3rd century" scenario with Rome, Goths (actually a federation also including the Heruli and other ...
Hello, I'm currently toying with the idea of playing the Pontics in the 3rd Mithridatic War scenario. It's the only remaining scenario I haven't played via PBEM yet. Both experienced or new players are welcome. I'd prefer to play on a 1 turn per day basis. My email is speedrayzor@gmail.com
Hello, I've stumbled upon a minor bug in the Mercenary War scenario. I'm playing with the newest 1.03 release candidate, but I guess the bug is already present in earlier versions of the game as well (this is the first time I've played the scenario, so I don't know for sure). The bug occurs when cho...
I have now solved the problems with my internet connection.
Now, I must say that I am slightly confused about the current state of the game. So it is currently on hold? And another player is playing Japan (or just substituting for me)? Any clarifications would be really welcome
Hi all, I've some troubles with my internet connection. I will most likely be unable to submit the next couple of turns. The problems should be hopefully solved by next week.
##News from the front## After a series of offenses against Japanese citizens and property, the government of Japan felt itself forced to announce a state of war with Korea. Initially, Japanese politicians sought that it would only be a conflict of limited scale, with a quick punitive expedition agai...
Why I lost prestige for all I declared a war to Japan??? When I saw this message, I was wondering about this as well. Must be a bug. Edit: I'm unable to run the current turn. The game crashes when I try to load the turn. The game log gives the following error: 21:46:55...
The government of the Empire of Great-Japan wishes to announce that it expects satisfaction for the recent hostile activities of the Kingdom of Korea. Some time ago, our embassy and trade post in Seoul, which was granted to us in a bilateral treaty and whose existence is protected by international l...
Hey there, just wanted to quickly drop in to say I'm still alive... I've been terribly busy over the last weeks and my bad internet connection didn't help much, either. I'll travel to Berlin from Wednesday to Sunday next week, and will most likely be unable to submit turns during this time. But apar...
Hello, I'm really sorry for the late reply, but since moving I have had a really terrible internet connection and downloading just a few files to the dropbox takes ages. On top of that, I'm really busy with my graduation paper and part-time job so I just don't have the time anymore for multiple PBEM...
I'm relocating the coming week, and don't really have the time needed to give meaningful orders to Italy. Is there someone who's interested and willing to play as Italy during the week?
