Re: Russian Civil War Metagame AAR on Wargamer

I would really like to try a RUS PBEM like this. Especially for the Reds... there is so much things to deal with that you could figure out to share the tasks somehow in a cool roleplay... I also think the Reds would be great for this. If you ever set up a game like this, please consider inlcuding m...

Re: Russian Civil War Metagame AAR on Wargamer

@elxaime. Thank you for posting about this game. It looks fascinating.

@Durk. That kind of collaborative RUS game sounds awesome. There could be one player in command of each front plus a HQ player who does everything else. That sounds really cool.

Thank you for the offer—I have sent you a PM with a download link for the turn file. Please let me know if you don’t receive it for some reason.

Thanks!

Re: Mantuan War - 1634... how much longer?

Thanks, John. So it sounds as though it may in fact be broken. That's too bad. Such a great game in every other respect, but this issue is kind of a big problem if it goes wrong in a game.

Mantuan War - 1634... how much longer?

It is April 1634 in my pbe multiplayer game, and my HRE forces are still locked down in Pavia. The historical War of Mantuan Succession went from (Wikipedia tells me) 1628 to 1631. I get that there are random elements in this game for this event, but I want to make sure that this is WAD and not just...

Re: "Troops to Mantua" takes 80%+ of Imperial Forces

Thank you for the suggestion to redo the turn and try our luck. I had two major armies and another smaller army as my extent force. The event took the two major armies (totalling 4,000 power) with all of the units in each of those armies (leaving me with the smaller army). Will it not break apart ar...

"Troops to Mantua" takes 80%+ of Imperial Forces

In a PBEM game that had has been very enjoyable to this point, the "Troops to Mantua" event fired and very much overdid what I think it should in terms of troops sent to Mantua. It sent 4,000 power worth of troops, leaving around 15-20% of my forces behind. And there is no depot where they...

Giving the Imperial player some strategic choice in the Mantua Event

I think that rather than a big portion of the Imperial forces just disappearing overnight, it would be more interesting (and realistic) to have something like the following occur: the Imperial player must move a certain number of forces to Trente, Austria, by a certain date (for example, October 162...

I always have gone by Bornego's post here: Who put the stranded Admiral in charge? - Siberian White Short Campaign PBEM So unless this has changed for RUS Gold, each troop type has a different chit-hit replacement metric. For infantry, for example, I buy one chits to replace 20 hits. Artillery is on...

Actually, there seems a force pool issue here, at least with Protestants in campaign. They get to build only 1 new Protestant supply cart and have to live off that and the other existing supply carts for years. Forget about building new Protestant depots, you barely have enough supply carts to keep...

By sacrificing two supply carts you can build a depot in any province. It can be helpful to put a couple of these in between the bigger, already-existing depots to help keep your troops supply carts from emptying as they move towards (or in winter, away) from the enemy's territory. The game seems to...

You said that you hardly see an impact in the NM. If you see any NM being awarded at all that is a sign that it was greater than a marginal victory. Marginal victories carry no NM adjustment. The greater the victory, the larger the NM awarded. Of course, as I mentioned, NM is how your citizen's perc...

This is from the GameLogic file:

ctlContested = 5 // Minimum control gained upon entering a region (if not passive)

So it is odd that the Catholics still have 100% military control. I assume the Protestants entered the territory in a non-passive state?

You do need a breach in the city walls in this game to successfully assault. (And you will need artillery to successfully get a breach.) But in this case, yes, it sounds as though your commander was just not activated.

You can get a sense of the magnitude of defeat/victory from the NM adjustment after the battle (this can be a little wonky, too, but is justified for the most part; NM adjustments reflect how your country's citizens respond to the battle, so it is not infallible). As for odd battle results, usually ...

Scenarios no longer starting

I wonder if someone could help me. I was playing TYW for about a week every day, and then all of a sudden when I try to load the game or start a new game, the game will not start. The mouse cursor turns into the firing musketeer as usual, and (for a new scenario) the first information popup occurs. ...

I have done the Bohemian Revolt short scenario and now am in the middle of the long campaign, and I am enjoying it immensely. The most number of elements that you can see in your division's detail is 32, but you can actually squeeze 33 elements into one division, you just won't be able to see the last element in the detail. You also need military control of the most important city in that region (the city name is indicated when you hover over the region in the F7 map), but it doesn't sound like that is the issue in your game.
