Having similar problems here. Sadly, this is typical. One step forward, two steps back. I'm hopeful that the problem is related to the antiquated game engine - that there's something inherent in the game engine that means fixing one thing often breaks something else - and that the new engine will al...

This is not a good game. It's a good idea for a game in genre in need of a good game. But it was a mistake to try to shoehorn multiple historical wars into a single "campaign." And the old engine is showing its age. And the reach of the tiny AGEOD team has long since exceeded its grasp -- they remai...

It is not the AI. The AI does not put Russian Depots in Swizterland, French Costal batteries in the middle of Hesse, or Russain river boats on the Seine. Even if the AI ordered them to go there, the rate of movement of the units would not allow them to get there in the amount of time they have. And...

Given all that it seems the real challenge is to be able to distinguish between a WAD unusual result and a bug. I do feel it is a burden properly placed on those that would say it is a WAD unusual result to fully explain why that is the case. I love AGEOD games, but I also desire to know what lever...

If both corp in Wien were passive and Austrians set to defensive posture (and they were), there shouldn't not have been combat, but there was. So Captain's second statement may be where the issue is, understanding you don't believe there is one. Is the check for MTSG engaging in combat looking at w...

If the Athena system was more analagous to a clock than it actually is, your point would be valid. But it isn't. Fair point. Bad analogy. But it's also fair that sometimes folks are so close to something that they can't see its flaws. Athena may be a wonderfully intricate engine, but it's still onl...

Respectfully, this opinion would mean a lot more to me if it was coming from someone who knew as much about the inner workings of the Athena system as Loki does... I guess we all have our respectful opinions. I don't need to know the intricacies of a clock's design to know whether the time it displ...

sorry can't see the 'bug' in this one. If they were passive their chance to be selected in the combat engine is much lower, so you are trying to break off from a much larger enemy if they are still being targetted? Sounds like good modelling of a monumental mess where Napoleon's intervention has wo...

Why I call this a bug is Murat dying to the last man and horse while set to retreat, avoid combat, and successfully retreating but Ney came in to support so the battle continued.... but Ney did no fighting just Murat who had already retreated. And the ALL of the cavalry died. You can defend this al...

What is the general verdict (no BS please) as to where this game is at right now? I know there still appear to be annoying issues, but is it playable? The Saxons were allied with the Prussians, both at war with me. The event 'switches sides' should have got them onto my side, but they went neutral, and refused me access, as described above. Actually, a little randomness (Saxony goes neutral sometimes) wouldn't necessarily be bad thing for replay ...

I considered raising this issue myself, but figured they're too far down the design road to turn back now. But I agree that there's something off-putting about playing a dynamic game to try to achieve a static result. The various treaties that happened historically weren't the only possible outcomes...

Come on loki, Vicberg has been working on the game for 3/4 hard weeks and the long thread here is a testament to his dedication to the game, some of us have tried to help (little we can) by bouncing ideas on and off. Agreed. For that manner, every "Brigade" should be able to combine into an "Old-Style" division - no exceptions. Agreed. The game system generally makes the player jump through too many needless hoops. If the goal is that formations should match particular leaders and units for optimal efficiency, ...

Historical plausibility, rather than historical fidelity, is a reasonable goal for a grand strategy game like WoN. Either way, the game needs work. I appreciate all your efforts.

Wow that is so nice to know. I think I have spent at least an hour trying different combinations to form a division of arty. Wouldn't it be nice if the tool tip over the plus said why you can't combine the unit instead of just being greyed out. I've long thought the formation creation process in AG...

Actually so far as that goes, I posted some leader pic mods when the game was first released and I believe that some of them have been downloaded over 600 times now. That's good to hear. I understand the frustration, but again, we don't know what's going on behind the scenes. When I was young, I worked in a fast-food place. We had a really good manager. So I would see my relationship to ageod more as a relationship of hobby and similar interest (and the price is ridicolous compared to what I personally get out of the games) rather than a consumer-realtionship. In a grognards' world, there are no alternatives. Just a common goal and interest. AGEOD...
