Re: Questions From a Newcomer

The best burgers, eh? I must have grown too used to whats in my backyard.

But.. Back to the game..

It shouldn't matter if the artillery is in or outside a city. As long as the unit has a range of at least 4 and is entrenched to at least level 3 it should work.

Re: Questions From a Newcomer

Ya, the native names are a bit funky. I think the name 'Little Crow' was settled on on for the sake of ease when dealing with non-natives, he sure didn't name himself that. From what I heard, 'Little Crow' is a name derived from his grandfathers name, a lot of sources site that he was nicknamed afte...

Thanks for the update.

I can not confirm that it fixes the issue. I applied the patch, ran a brief 15 minute test; replacement chits appear to be broken as they previously were.

Is it working for anyone else?

@Orso, I agree on the redeployment being unrealistic. though I do have a weird fondness for sending my generals on cross-country balloon trips. Speaking of trips.... The bull of the local bison herd is named 'Little Crow', like Little John from Robin Hood, he is the opposite of his name; freaking hu...

Re: Who's Worth Promoting?

It is a tough choice. There are not really any great candidates for another 3 star in the CS. Stonewall and Longstreet are the easiest to get to 3 stars, but as you found they are best used as corp commanders. Ideally, you would want someone with a high strategic rating for a large operating area, b...

Re: Questions From a Newcomer

Supply wagons can also be redeployed. So can Army HQs and other support units. Generals can form divisions with only support elements, these divisions can be redeployed. For example, Abner Double-D could merge with two balloons and still be eligible for redeployment. Its a cheeky way to get avoid ha...

Re: Questions From a Newcomer

Pontoons help a stack cross rivers faster. You only need one per stack.

You are correct on marines. One per division.

Naval engineers inside a city will speed up repair and construction of ships in that region. Bigger harbors might repair faster, not sure on that.

Re: Replacement Issue/Bug?

It is really too bad that the Steam version of CW2 does not have an option to roll-back to a previous patch. A lot of games on Steam use the option in case the automatic updates ruins your game. If it did, I would roll-back from 1.06.1 to 1.06. Nothing game play wise has changed. Its just graphics, ...

I'd recommend Wars in America too (Ain't nobody more street than Big G; stone faced with a grill of sheep teeth..) Sadly, its not on Steam. Looks like its currently on sale in the ageod store for $7.50, though.

Here you are, sir. Shiloh Test.

Off topic: In the logs you can also see the issue reported about ships moving from Bowling Green to Clarksville and vice versa.

P.S. That picture still cracks me up. What a struggle..

I took a minute to check. You are totally right; the ships move overland in one day.

Having done a hefty amount of portaging in my life, I'd sure like to meet the lads/titans that can portage an ironclad.

Hello and welcome to the forum benmilam.

No doubt about it; this game is a beast. Lots of depth. It takes some time to learn, but its worth it in the end.

What scenario did you start off with? Did you jump straight into the grand campaign?

Re: Far West Farmers' Almanac and Bowling Green - Clarksville Canal

I remember messing around with that canal oddity a long time ago. It's been a while, but I seem to remember that when watching the step-by-step focus move during turn processing that ships ordered to go from Bowling Green to Clarksville would take the long, normal, river route. But maybe not.. I tho...

Its good to know I'm not seeing things.. When I tried to isolate the affect of Fort Monroe on Richmond, I changed the value of the capital cash multiplier from 5 to 50, that way it made so much cash that any change to it came in big, easy to notice chunks. I only tallied the results of the on hand c...

Re: Blockade Stratigy

I understood previously that the Distant Blockade of a city was equivalent to it being BWB'ed, but I can find no actual evidence for this assumption. It appears to me now, that if Distant Blockaded, either the Blockaded Harbors list value is added to the overall blockade, or the SetDistantBlockades...

Would anyone else care to do a sanity check on your blockades, please? Are they preforming 100% consistently? Mine aren't. 1.) @Captain Orso Yes I did test it. The 10-lber in Norfolk is fixed and cannot be moved or disbanded. So I can't test #3 and #4. However, programs don't use magic so it must be how it works. The thing with finding out what is produced where, and why is difficult, if not practically impossible in general. As far as I can tell, the Regions list <F8> does tell you the correct Money, WSU, and CC production, but I know of no way to 'dump' that list to a file. Also, it does not tell you anyt...

Re: Blockade Stratigy

First off, cities themselves do not produce any money. Only structures in the cities produce money. Playing around with different numbers of blockade flotillas in the Blockade Boxes and Brown Water Blockading, I could confirm that money and WSU production are directly affected by blockading. The st...

Steam Verson - Major Bug

In the Steam version of the game the CSA does not consume replacement chits.

I've only tested this in the April '61 grand campaign.

Really not much more to say, its been an issue for near two months.

Steam Launcher Suggestions

Once you use the launcher to launch the game it should close, not sure why it stays open.

There should be a button to launch agesettings.exe.

None of your advertisements in the launcher have working links.

I tried to repair the tables in the old thread. Apparently tables aren't a thing here anymore... So I ended up just doing a copy&paste into a Steam guide.

Here is a link to the table, one doesn't need Steam to view it: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=801038704
