Well, I'm retreating against these odds pretty much all the time, always before the battle starts. Leader doesn't seem to make a difference, had Longstreet do the same thing earlier in the game. I don't care that they are retreating so much as it bothers me they do it before the battle even starts, ...

Thanks for the info guys, I will put it to good use. I'm sure I'll have plenty more questions to come in the near future :bonk:

So if any unit is set to evade and the stack to defense, it won't intercept? Interesting, didn't realize that. I'll try sticking a cavalry unit on offense by itself and see if htat helps.

Well, I've been asking about ways to avoid this. In particular, I'd like to know how to avoid having 3 or 4 supply wagons go through a region I have 100% control over, have 1000 CP in, and have cavalry regiments in. If there's something I'm missing, by all means, please tell me! I think it's absolut...

No, this isn't the tourney game, it's a separate one. I don't have an issue with cavalry evading forces, I do have a problem with supply wagons just creeping by entire armies over and over and keeping massive forces supplied that should very well be cut off. It kills alot of the immersion for me. In...

Well, I'll just write it off to the rather painful learning experiences this game sometimes has. I didn't have him in the fort, maybe I should've with the conditions being what they were, oh well, hindsight is 20/20. I mostly was annoyed with the first set of results, where he just ran away before t...

I originally had Polk set to regular defense settings (the orange defense one), and he just simply retreated despite great fortifications, woods terrain, blizzard conditions, and a lvl 2 fort present. He retreated before the battle even started, didn't even try to fight. I asked for a replay with Po...

someone please explain what I did wrong

Okay, last turn (Nov 1861), I had a force under Polk defending at Paducah, I had about 400 CP here with lvl 4 entrenchments, and a freaking blizzard was going on. Grant attacked with a stack of 1200ish CP from across the Missisppi at Cairo, in the midst of a blizzard mind you, against Polk at Hold a...

IMO, this game was *made* for a WW1 game (I know there's WW1-Gold out there, but it's not a real AGEOD game in my book, and was really, really buggy the last time I played it). There's the added advantage that a lot of the leader files that would be needed already exist in PON. The biggest issue wou...

I'm hosting a game with Citizen X (CSA) and Seraphim (USA). This game has had lots of action, and is currently in Turn 12 (Late Sept. 1861). The Union is doing pretty well so far, winning out in Harper's Ferry and Manassas. CSA briefly took Cairo, but was savagely trapped and beaten by Lyon a turn l...

I think there's confusion on who's hosting my game vs Newman. I first got messages from DeGuerra, got a Dropbox set up and everything, then Durk started sending turn files out. Can we get this sorted out over here? A little easier than trying to piece together different emails from different sources...

Oops! I missed that post somehow, so YES! both of you are in a game, so I'll revise and post today or tomorrow. :mdr: Each of you should let me know if you have a preference on which side to play in round one. I'd prefer the Union, mainly because I'm playing the South in another game right now. But...

What about Newman5, is he in the tournament, and if so, can I match up against him? I'd prefer to play Union, but not a biggie either way.

Newman5 sounds like he's probably roughly the same timeframe of experience as me, maybe we could match up?

In my last PBEM game, I was playing South and the Northern player had a 700 CP stack led by Grant bunkered down in Paducah during winter of 1861-1862. On the late February 1862 turn, I decided to jump up there with a big stack led by Stonewall and try to trap him. My opponent says he moved the stack...

Oh well, probably better if I get just a bit more experience before my first game anyway. Longshanks, I can still process turns if you need someone. Just let me know, I don't mind doing several (doesn't really take any extra time to process 3-4 than it does 1 if I can do them at the same time of day).

I would definitely be interested, I could easily do a turn a day in two games. I'd also be more than happy to run turns, I've hosted games via Dropbox for ACW before. I can be host for several games if you need me to (doesn't take long to run turns).

Let me know if there's still room!
